Magic for larger crowds can be known collectively as stage magic. There are other names such as parlour magic, stage magic, platform magic, club magic or even cabaret magic. The magic show plays well for larger crowds than a close up magic show.

Stage illusions are large-scale magic tricks. As the name implies, stage illusions are distinct in that they are performed a considerable distance away from the audience, usually on a stage, in order to maintain the illusion. Stage illusions usually use large props and may involve the use of assistants or large animals. Examples of stage illusions include sawing a woman in half and teleportation of people. A famous example of an ‘illuionist’ is David Copperfield who has a permanent show at the MGM Grand.

What happens when you cross stand-up comedy with magic? You get comedy stage magic show which the magician says gags while performing. The show is usually lots of fun and interactive. Even if you watch it again and again, it is always fresh, differing on how the audience reacts. Depending on the magic, some may be purely for adults while others are suitable for families.

A lot of the award-winning magicians have 7-10min silent act which are great openers for concerts, competitions, TV and media events. Mentalism or mental magic is a performing art in which its practitioners, known as mentalists, appear to demonstrate highly developed mental or intuitive abilities. Performances may appear to include hypnosis, telepathy, clairvoyance, divination, precognition, psychokinesis, mediumship, mind control, memory feats, deduction, and rapid mathematics. Mentalists perform a theatrical act that includes effects that may appear to employ psychic or supernatural forces. Take note that these performers do this only for entertainment purpose and are different from others who makes use of this to scam people.
